KUSADASI
Kusadasi (Bird Island) has a seaside promenade stretching from Dove Island to the Marina. The seafront area is filled with shops, restaurants, hotels. The harbour is a stopover for visitors going to visit Ephesus and who then take time in Kusadasi to shop, relax and try some of the local cuisine. There are ferry boats which cross to Samos in the summertime.
The town has a large number of shops and also a bazaar area where you can shop for clothes, trinkets, souvenirs, leather, jewellery and carpets. The historical Caravanserai was built in the 16th Century for sea trading. It has 40 rooms and a restaurant.
Linked to the mainland by a causeway is Dove Island, a small island which offers lovely views across the bay of Kusadasi. There are gardens around the restored remains of the 14th century Genoese fortress.
Kusasadi centrum has a number of smaller streets, some only for pedestrians, with numerous shops and restaurants. There are two street markets, one on Tuesday and the other on Fridays. These markets are filled with fresh fruit and vegetables and you can also buy spices, nuts, cheese, eggs, fish and meat.
On the outskirts of Kusadasi you will find Ladies Beach, Long Beach area and further afield the towns of Davutlar, Güzel Camlı and the National Park |
